About the role#
IBM is looking for a Cloud Developer Intern to join our Infrastructure and Technology team in Chicago. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work in a hybrid environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure solutions.
What you'll do#
- Implement and automate infrastructure solutions that support IBM Cloud products.
- Build and set up test automation and pipeline frameworks within OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
- Administer automated CI/CD systems for development and test teams.
- Support the security and compliance integrity of the environment.
- Partner with managers and program managers to develop alerting and monitoring for mission-critical services.
- Enhance existing compute infrastructure services and support the development of new capabilities.
- Provide technical escalation support for Infrastructure Operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience through projects or internships in development, computer hardware, or testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in one or more operating systems, such as Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS Linux, or Windows Servers.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies like Citrix Hypervisor, VMware vSphere, or Ubuntu KVM.
- Experience with programming tools including Java, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Active Directory, Ansible, or Chef.
- Experience with container technologies like Kubernetes or Docker.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Zabbix or Splunk.
- Experience with network and storage technologies, as well as collaboration tools like ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub.
