About the role#
As a Backend Developer Intern, you will join the IBM Cloud team in Austin. You will contribute to the infrastructure that supports public, private, and hybrid cloud delivery models. This role involves researching new cloud products, building prototypes, and maintaining the systems that keep our services running.
What you'll do#
- Research and learn new cloud technology products and services.
- Design and implement cloud-based prototypes.
- Implement and automate infrastructure solutions for IBM Cloud.
- Build test automation and pipeline frameworks in OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
- Administer automated CI/CD systems for development and test teams.
- Support the security and compliance integrity of the environment.
- Partner with teams and managers to develop monitoring and alerting for mission-critical services.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A growth-minded, team-focused, and resourceful approach to engineering.
- Working knowledge of operating systems such as Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS Linux, or Windows Servers.
- Experience with virtualization technologies like Citrix Hypervisor, VMware vSphere, or Ubuntu KVM.
- Proficiency in at least one programming tool, including Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Experience with infrastructure tools such as Active Directory, Ansible, or Chef.
- Understanding of container technologies like Kubernetes or Docker.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Zabbix or Splunk, as well as network and storage technologies.
