About the role#
IBM is looking for a Back End Developer Intern to join our Infrastructure and Technology team in Poughkeepsie. This is a full-time, paid internship role with a hybrid work arrangement. You will contribute to large-scale system designs and help build infrastructure that supports continuous delivery in both cloud and on-premises environments.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain client-server architectures, networking protocols, and databases.
- Create and configure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS applications.
- Develop APIs that are clean, well-documented, and easy to use.
- Write reusable and scalable code for server applications, firmware, and databases.
- Use Agile and Cloud DevOps methodologies to support development goals.
What you'll need#
- A background in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C++, C, Java, Golang, Ruby, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with SQL and database management.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools like Git and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of operating systems, container technologies, and internet services.
- Experience with specific tools and frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, React, gtest, or Pytorch.
- An interest in AI, machine learning, and generative AI concepts.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
