About the role#
As a Service Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience maintaining and operating the Proton Therapy System (PTS). You will work alongside experienced team members to support hardware and software testing, routine maintenance, and clinical operations. This role involves exposure to unit, integration, and validation testing within a medical equipment manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the maintenance and deployment of the Proton Therapy System for customer needs.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance and system upgrades.
- Perform system inspections and report status updates to leadership and the team.
- Support daily clinical operations for customer staff.
- Maintain records in accordance with company quality assurance and FDA regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or an applicable field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Teams.
- Interest or basic knowledge in areas such as cyclotrons, electronics, mechanical systems, vacuum systems, PLC's, high voltage equipment, and power supplies.
- Experience or coursework in electrical or mechanical system repair and maintenance is a plus.
- Knowledge of local Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Linux, SAP, Siemens Step 7, Service Max, or LEAN maintenance is a plus.

- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Schedule: Hours range from 15 to 32 per week. The work environment operates 24/7, and the schedule may include nights and weekends.
