About the role#
The Service Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of the Proton Therapy System. This role involves supporting troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and system inspections. You will work alongside experienced team members to support hardware and software testing, including unit, integration, and validation testing.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the maintenance and deployment of the Proton Therapy System for customer needs.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
- Conduct system inspections and communicate status updates to leadership.
- Maintain records as required by the customer, Site Manager, company QA, and FDA regulations.
- Participate in routine preventative maintenance and system upgrades.
- Assist with daily clinical operations as defined by site leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or an applicable field.
- Relevant coursework or hands-on experience in system repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
- General knowledge of MS Suite, including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Teams.
- Basic knowledge or interest in cyclotrons, electronics, mechanical systems, software analysis, and X-Ray systems.
- Knowledge of local EHS regulations is a plus.

- Location: Kansas City, Kansas.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, part-time internship.
- The work environment involves exposure to radiation, high voltage equipment, magnetic fields, and hazardous materials.
- Hours are irregular, ranging from 15 to 32 hours per week, and may include nights and weekends.
- Employment may be subject to specific inoculation and immunization requirements for working in a healthcare setting.
