About the role#
As a Controls Engineering Intern, you will support the design, development, and implementation of automated control systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial communication networks, and electrical control systems. This is a 10-week summer program running from June 1, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and commissioning of automation control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and motor control systems.
- Write, test, and document PLC code under supervision.
- Develop project scopes and system documentation.
- Review system requirements and control strategies with engineering staff.
- Select components and review technical specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Use diagnostic tools like multimeters to support system testing and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the team to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of control systems and automation concepts.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to PLC programming, such as ladder logic.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

- Compensation: $18.00 to $26.00 per hour.
