About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will fill prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assist with inventory and quality assurance, and help deliver patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service.
- Fill and help process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, checking invoices, and entering inventory information.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAA.
- Work as a team with co-workers.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
