About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you will gain hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting while working toward your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support patient care, manage inventory, and ensure the pharmacy operates according to regulatory standards.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly service to customers.
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and entering data.
- Help with monthly inventory counts.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information.
- Report any medication errors.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees.
- Work as part of a team and follow all store guidelines.
- Help in other areas of the store when needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- The ability to perform arithmetic and algebraic calculations.
- Strong discretion and integrity when handling confidential information.
