About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support daily operations and provide care to our customers. This role is focused on maintaining pharmacy standards, ensuring accurate medication dispensing, and creating a welcoming environment for everyone who visits the store. You will interact with a diverse group of patients, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll do#
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Input patient and prescription data into the computer system.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for customers.
- Provide drug counseling and recommend over-the-counter medications.
- Administer immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
- Contact prescribers for authorizations and work with insurance companies.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean and safe pharmacy environment.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to the pharmacist on duty or management.
- Promote a culture of trust, respect, and honesty among the team.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to maintaining the integrity of customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and ask for help when needed.
- Capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
