About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy operations by providing exceptional service and maintaining a safe, clean environment. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to assist customers, manage prescription data, and help the department meet its goals.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions about products throughout the store.
- Input patient and prescription information into the computer system accurately.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Dispense medications and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate charge purchases.
- Bag and deliver prescriptions to customers.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain department cleanliness and report any safety risks, accidents, or illegal activity.
- Promote trust and respect among your fellow associates.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a nonconfrontational and professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Comfort interacting with diverse groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
