About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting while working toward their degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to fill prescriptions, manage inventory, and support patient care. This position is part-time and offers the chance to apply your pharmacy education to daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions while following state and federal regulations.
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service to all patients.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and monthly security procedures.
- Help train pharmacy staff and maintain the cleanliness of the dispensing area.
- Counsel customers and interact with healthcare providers.
- Protect customer privacy and maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Skill in composing original correspondence and following technical manuals.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
