About the role#
As a Cloud Platform Engineer intern, you will join the IT Enterprise Architecture, Network, Cloud and Data Platform Group. You will work alongside senior engineers to deliver secure and reliable cloud platform capabilities. This role focuses on AI-powered development and AWS platform improvements. You will help build automation and contribute to scalable, well-governed cloud solutions.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test AWS platform improvements with guidance from senior engineers.
- Build AI-powered prototypes, scripts, and workflow automations to reduce repetitive work.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and documentation.
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Git, ArgoCD, and AWS-native services.
- Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational runbooks.
- Research emerging cloud-native and AI technologies to develop and present proof-of-concepts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Information Security and Network, to deliver practical outcomes.
- Follow established practices for cloud security, access management, and cost control.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud computing and an interest in AWS, AI, and platform engineering.
- Basic programming or scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, automation, and software development fundamentals.
- Interest in generative AI and intelligent automation.
- Ability to organize work and deliver outcomes within the four-month term.
- Exposure to Terraform, containers, Kubernetes, or cloud security is an asset.

- Compensation: Paid position ($21.00 to $31.00 per hour).
