About the role#
Hoffman Construction Company is hiring an Intern Project Engineer for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Tempe, Arizona. You will work 40 hours per week directly on the jobsite, assisting project teams with logistics, quality control, and document management from preconstruction through project closeout.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate site logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and field inspections.
- Interpret blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Perform field surveying and lay out control lines and benchmarks.
- Serve as a technical advisor within the onsite field construction office.
- Manage technical information, record documents, and requests for information.
- Access all areas of the construction site to review work progress.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree.
- Familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- Experience with AutoCAD and critical path method scheduling software, such as Primavera Project Planner (P6) or Suretrack Project Manager.
- Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and documents up to 40 pounds.
- Strong communication skills to interact with trade and craft personnel.
