About the role#
Hoffman Construction Company is seeking an Intern Project Engineer for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Childress, Texas. You will work 40 hours per week directly on the jobsite, assisting the project team with various phases of construction from preconstruction through closeout.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate site logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and field inspections.
- Interpret blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Perform field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
- Receive and distribute requests for information and change documents.
- Organize and file record documents.
- Act as a technical advisor at the onsite field office.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams), and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Experience with critical path method scheduling software, such as Suretrack Project Manager and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
- Ability to lift and carry documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access all areas and levels of the construction site for work progress reviews.
