About the role#
Hoffman Construction Company is hiring an Intern Project Engineer for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a paid, on-site position based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Interns work approximately 20 hours per week, with schedules coordinated alongside the project team to fit academic requirements. This role involves working directly on construction sites to support project teams through various phases from preconstruction to closeout.
What you'll do#
- Interpret blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Receive and distribute requests for information and change documents.
- Perform field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
- Coordinate site logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and field inspections.
- Assist with quality control, schedule management, estimating, and document control.
- Serve as a technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree.
- Familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with critical path method scheduling software and AutoCAD.
- Ability to lift and carry documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site for work progress reviews.

- Compensation: $25.13 to $31.50 per hour.
