About the role#
The Commercial Construction Intern joins the HITT Futures Program for a 10-week, full-time immersive experience. This role provides hands-on learning, mentorship, and professional development designed to prepare students for careers as construction superintendents or project managers.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, and file management.
- Assist with progress updates and reporting for client review.
- Manage document control processes, including drafting submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Execute preconstruction procedures such as reviewing proposals, specifications, and drawings, performing material takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and attending team meetings and client walkthroughs.
- Collaborate with onsite superintendents and field teams on project layout, trade coordination, site condition verification, and safety and quality control inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full 10-week duration.
- Proficiency or ability to learn software including Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous internship, volunteer, or work experience is preferred.
