About the role#
This is a 10-week, paid internship program designed to provide hands-on experience in commercial construction management. You will work within the HITT Futures Program, gaining exposure to the roles of a project manager or superintendent through mentorship, training, and field-based work. This position requires a full-time commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, and file management.
- Assist with progress updates and reporting for client review.
- Manage document control processes, including drafting submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare bid packages and assist in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids.
- Conduct preconstruction procedures such as reviewing drawings and specifications, executing material takeoffs, and preparing cost estimates.
- Collaborate with superintendents and field teams on project layout, trade coordination, safety inspections, and quality control.
- Participate in weekly training classes, networking events, and corporate responsibility activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related construction fields.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency or ability to learn software systems including Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in the industry is a plus.
