About the role#
The HITT Futures Program is a 10-week, paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in commercial construction management. Interns work alongside project managers and superintendents to gain exposure to the construction industry through mentorship, professional networking, and career development training.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, and file management.
- Assist with progress updates and reporting for client review.
- Manage document control processes, including drafting submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare bid packages and assist in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids.
- Conduct preconstruction procedures such as reviewing proposals, specifications, and drawings, executing material takeoffs, and preparing cost estimates.
- Collaborate with onsite superintendents and field teams on project layout, construction drawing, trade coordination, and verification of site conditions.
- Perform safety and quality control inspections.
- Participate in social and networking events, weekly training classes, and corporate responsibility activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related construction field.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program duration.
- Proficiency or ability to quickly learn project-specific software including Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous industry internship, volunteer work, or related experience is considered a plus.
