About the role#
Join the HITT Futures Program as a Commercial Construction Intern. This 10-week, full-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience in construction management through mentorship, professional networking, and career development. The role is designed to prepare students for future careers as project managers or superintendents.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, and file management.
- Assist with progress updates and reporting for client review.
- Aid in document control processes, including drafting submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Assist in the preparation of bid packages by soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids.
- Conduct preconstruction procedures such as reviewing proposals and drawings, performing material takeoffs, and preparing cost estimates.
- Collaborate with onsite superintendents and field teams on project layout, construction drawings, trade coordination, and verification of site conditions.
- Participate in safety and quality control inspections.
- Engage in weekly training, educational classes, and corporate responsibility activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program.
- Proficiency or ability to learn project-specific software including Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Previous industry internship, volunteer work, or related work experience is a plus.
