About the role#
Hatch is offering a 12-month Rail Systems internship for Electrical Engineering students in Mississauga. This program includes an introductory training curriculum in rail systems and assurance, featuring field trips and laboratory exercises. It serves as a pre-employment screening program, and successful participants may be considered for future employment opportunities. You will work on projects both in the office and on site while receiving mentorship from industry professionals.
What you'll do#
- Perform assignments across rail and transit systems, including signaling, traction power, communications, SCADA, rail track, safety systems assurance, and systems engineering.
- Assist senior engineers and designers with technical design reviews and calculation checks.
- Coordinate with technicians and other disciplines to complete design deliverables.
- Contribute to the design of power distribution systems.
- Improve your technical communication and report writing skills while supporting project completion.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Electrical Engineering co-op program at an accredited university.
- Good academic standing.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Interest in a career in rail and transit design.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Extracurricular involvement and a drive for problem solving.
- Experience in a consultancy or infrastructure project environment is an asset.
