    About the role#

    Hatch is seeking a Project Controller Student for a 4-month internship starting in January 2027. You will report to the Project Controls Manager within the Project Management and Construction group. This role is based in our Vancouver office and offers the chance to contribute to complex projects while working alongside experienced professionals in the engineering and infrastructure sectors.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly project controls reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators.
    • Support cost tracking, budget monitoring, commitment management, and variance analysis.
    • Assist with project forecasting, including cost-at-completion estimates and trend analysis.
    • Contribute to resource planning and workforce forecasting by analyzing labor hours and productivity data.
    • Participate in project change management processes by tracking scope and schedule impacts.
    • Maintain project controls systems, databases, and reporting tools.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, estimators, and field personnel to support project data needs.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management.
    • A strong interest in building a career in project controls.
    • A basic understanding of project management principles and an eagerness to learn industry methodologies.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
    • Familiarity with tools like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Power BI is an asset.
    • A solid grasp of engineering and business fundamentals.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with attention to detail.
    • Ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
