About the role#
The Squamish Student Housing Intern supports the daily operations of housing and guest services at the Capilano University Squamish campus. This role provides hands-on experience in hospitality management, including reservations, event coordination, and guest relations. You will report to the Manager of Short Term Accommodation and work with the School of Tourism Management to develop practical skills in a professional setting.
What you'll do#
- Manage housing assignments, check-in and check-out processes, and general guest services.
- Perform room checks and manage inventory to prepare for guest arrivals.
- Handle guest inquiries and resolve accommodation issues.
- Coordinate event logistics, housing setup, and maintenance tasks with team members and other departments.
- Assist with the execution of conference operations.
- Create guest service materials like signage and information packets.
- Participate in training sessions for hospitality and operations.
- Complete project work as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- No current notations regarding student conduct, academic standing, or outstanding fees.
- Strong interpersonal skills, approachability, and empathy.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrated planning, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FOIPOP regulations.
