About the role#
As a Peer Conversation Corner Facilitator, you will lead informal, student-centered groups. Your goal is to help participants practice spoken English, build communication confidence, and foster social connections. You will create a welcoming environment where students can develop intercultural awareness and a sense of belonging at Okanagan College.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate small group sessions and lead discussions that encourage open dialogue.
- Collaborate with co-facilitators to plan activities and prepare materials.
- Refer participants to college services and resources when they need extra support.
- Promote the program through class visits, events, and marketing materials.
- Collect attendance data and manage program resources on internal systems.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of program spaces.
- Communicate regularly with your supervisor and complete required training.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all college policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program at Okanagan College.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Technical aptitude and proficiency with computer software.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to inclusive learning environments.
- Prior experience in tutoring, mentoring, leadership, or volunteer roles is an asset.
- Experience learning or speaking more than one language is an asset.
- Experience facilitating groups or participating in intercultural activities is an asset.
