About the role#
Okanagan College is hiring an Indigenous Services Peer Mentor for the Fall 2026 term. This student role supports the Indigenous Access Services team in Penticton. You will work under the supervision of the Indigenous Access and Services Coordinator and the Indigenous Transition Planner to support peers and help maintain the Indigenous Centre.
What you'll do#
- Participate in mentor training, regular meetings, and check-ins with staff.
- Welcome visitors and share information about Indigenous Access Services.
- Connect with peers in the Indigenous Centre and encourage them to attend social events.
- Help students navigate the college environment.
- Assist with campus and department events.
- Keep the Indigenous Centre organized and tidy.
- Submit completed student help forms to your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- You must be registered in a post-secondary program at Okanagan College with at least one year of prior post-secondary experience.
- A basic understanding of Aboriginal people and culture, or a strong desire to increase your awareness.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and internet tools.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills.
- A self-motivated, prompt, and cheerful attitude.
- Prior work experience is an asset.

- This is an on-site position based in Penticton, British Columbia.
- The term runs from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
