About the role#
The Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies is looking for an Undergraduate and Graduate Assistant to join the team. This position is a one-year term at 80% FTE, with the possibility of renewal. You will report to the Centre Manager and act as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors.
What you'll do#
- Act as the primary contact for general enquiries, responding within your scope or redirecting as needed.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training process for teaching assistants.
- Interpret guidelines to determine graduate student eligibility for teaching assistantships.
- Provide information on program and course eligibility, policies, and deadlines.
- Process evaluation materials and check the completeness of applications.
- Maintain information on digital platforms and prepare draft employment letters using templates.
- Collate data for reports and confirm room bookings.
- Organize materials for workshops, conferences, and events, including managing logistics, catering, and audio-visual equipment.
What you'll need#
- An Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or an equivalent combination of experience.
- At least two years of recent administrative experience supporting an academic program.
- Experience with academic recruitment, training coordination, and preparing documents or letters using templates.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, or collective agreements.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Experience navigating and entering data in HRIS and ROSI or similar student information systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to exercise initiative and judgment.
- Familiarity with the CUPE 3902 (Unit 1) collective agreement and the Faculty of Arts and Science TAShip portal are considered assets.
