About the role#
Join McElhanney for a Summer 2027 internship in Edmonton. This full-time, paid position offers hands-on field experience where you will support construction geomatics, regulatory, and facilities projects. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams and mentors to apply your academic knowledge to real-world infrastructure, development, and Energy & Resources projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the use of GNSS receivers for RTK, RTN, and static measurements.
- Operate total stations and levels.
- Maintain, clean, monitor, and report on the condition of equipment and vehicles.
- Work in field environments across Edmonton and surrounding project sites.
- Participate in company safety practices.
- Support field and office activities for a variety of projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Diploma or Degree program in Geomatics Engineering, Geomatics Technology, Surveying, GIS, Geospatial, Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work in outdoor settings, including wilderness or backcountry environments, for extended periods with varied hours.
- Willingness to travel and work out of town.
- Ability to work on busy sites with varied terrain and lift heavy equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, good judgement, and clear communication skills.
- Modern technical aptitude.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Previous outdoor work experience and an interest in advanced reality capture, GIS, or survey technologies are assets.
