About the role#
Join our internship program starting in May 2027 to gain hands-on experience in both field and office settings. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on surveying projects across the East Kootenay region. This role provides the opportunity to apply your academic training to real-world problems while working alongside experienced mentors.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the use of GNSS receivers for RTK, RTN, static measurements, and total stations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to prepare files, maps, and survey data for project delivery.
- Research plans, titles, documents, and related geospatial information.
- Maintain, clean, monitor, and report the condition of equipment and vehicles.
- Work in both office and field environments across the East Kootenay region and surrounding project sites.
- Learn about and operate emerging technologies, including drones, 3D laser scanning, reality capture tools, and other advanced geomatics equipment.
- Participate in safety practices to ensure project sites remain secure.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Diploma or Degree program in Geomatics.
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings, including wilderness or backcountry environments, for extended periods with varied hours.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work out of town.
- Capacity to work on busy sites with varied terrain and lift heavy equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, good judgement, and clear communication skills.
- A valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Previous work experience in outdoor environments, modern technical aptitude, and an interest in advanced reality capture, GIS, or survey technologies are considered assets.
