About the role#
The Job Placement Resource Center is seeking a Student Aide to support front desk operations. This role involves providing customer service to students, employers, and community members in person, over the phone, and through written communication. The position is paid and requires on-site attendance at the Palatine campus.
What you'll do#
- Greet visitors and answer phone inquiries from students, employers, and community members.
- Schedule appointments, check in students, and provide information regarding center services.
- Assist students in the computer lab with general questions and navigating the job board.
- Perform light clerical tasks and assist office staff with special projects.
- Make appointment reminder calls and follow up with students.
- Deliver and post flyers around campus.
- Support outreach, marketing, and attendance at center events.
- Assist with social media postings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Harper College with at least 6 credits per semester (3 for summer) and eligibility for Federal Work Study.
- Outgoing, friendly, and customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Dependability and flexibility.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel is preferred, though office experience is not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Palatine, Illinois.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, determined by student availability during office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm).
