About the role#
Halff is hiring a GIS Intern for our utility data management team in Richardson, Texas. This role supports GIS mapping, database development, and field data collection for transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, paid internship running from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will work 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 8a to 5p.
What you'll do#
- Convert CAD to GIS and interpret utility asset records and plans.
- Create and edit GIS files while analyzing spatial relationships in utility networks.
- Participate in map production, data integration, and data validation workflows.
- Support data quality reviews, asset inventory management, and technical documentation.
- Use ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro to manage utility datasets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Geography, Computer Science, or a related GIS field.
- Familiarity with fundamental GIS concepts like editing, topology, and spatial queries.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest improvements to workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate results.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines.
