About the role#
The Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for managing a campus living area and supporting the development of the students residing there. Working under the supervision of a Resident Director, RAs serve as peer mentors and role models, facilitating community connection and providing resources to residents.
What you'll do#
- Manage administrative tasks including check-ins, health and safety checks, furniture inventory, and key management.
- Facilitate community building through floor gatherings, event planning, and responding to student crises.
- Conduct rounds, attend weekly staff meetings, and participate in one-on-one meetings with supervisors.
- Handle room changes, maintenance requests, and incident reports.
- Spend time with residents to build relationships and respond to student needs.
What you'll need#
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
- Commit to an average of 10 hours of work per week, with flexibility for busier periods like training and move-in/out.
- Participate in the WalkAbout program (Urban or Smokys).
- Return to campus by August 4.
- Complete mandatory online summer training on D2L, which includes a $100 compensation for completion.
