About the role#
The Resident Assistant (RA) manages a campus living area and supports the development of the students residing there. This role involves serving as a role model and peer mentor while acting as a resource for various student needs. You will work alongside other RAs under the supervision of a Resident Director.
What you'll do#
- Manage administrative tasks including check-ins, health and safety checks, key management, furniture inventory, room changes, maintenance requests, and incident reports.
- Facilitate community connection by hosting floor gatherings and planning events.
- Provide support to students in crisis and respond to situational needs.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with supervisors.
- Conduct rounds approximately one night per week.
- Dedicate an average of 10 hours per week to the position.
What you'll need#
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
- Return to campus on August 4.
- Participate in WalkAbout (Urban or Smokys).
- Complete required online summer training on D2L, which includes a $100 compensation.
- Be available on campus during designated times, particularly the Saturdays before breaks.
