About the role#
Great American Insurance Group is seeking Actuarial Interns for the Summer 2027 term. Based at the Cincinnati headquarters, this internship offers hands-on experience in pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, and data analysis. Interns will support actuarial and analytics teams across departments, including Corporate P&C Actuarial, Business Data & Analytics, and Great American Risk Solutions.
What you'll do#
- Develop and modify automation tools using R, Python, SQL, and VBA.
- Create and maintain Microsoft Excel workbooks for ad-hoc analysis.
- Prepare and validate data, run projections, and produce analysis reports.
- Maintain databases by modifying or creating SQL and Snowflake queries, and performing data cleansing using R.
- Run existing queries and maintain project files.
- Summarize data, create exhibits, and develop data visualizations.
- Present and communicate findings to actuarial and business team members.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Economics.
- Passed at least one Actuarial Exam.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is required, with 3.5 preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency with R, Python, or other programming languages.
