About the role#
Great American Insurance Group is seeking motivated Actuarial Summer Interns for our Cincinnati headquarters. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting actuarial and analytics teams through projects involving pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, and data analysis. Interns will work within departments such as Corporate P&C Actuarial, Business Data & Analytics, and Great American Risk Solutions.
What you'll do#
- Develop and modify automation tools using R, Python, SQL, and VBA.
- Build and maintain Microsoft Excel workbooks for ad-hoc analysis.
- Prepare and validate data, run projections, and produce analysis reports.
- Perform database maintenance, including modifying or creating SQL and Snowflake queries and cleaning data using R.
- Run existing queries and maintain files for various projects.
- Summarize data, create exhibits, and develop data visualizations.
- Present and communicate findings to actuarial and business team members.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Economics.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0, with a 3.5 preferred.
- Completion of at least one Actuarial Exam.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency with R, Python, or other programming languages.
