About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will gain hands-on experience on a commercial construction project site. You will receive specialized one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring while working alongside project managers and superintendents. This role involves active participation in your own career development through regular self-assessments against core competencies.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the control and management of the project.
- Monitor the execution of safety and quality programs on site.
- Develop and revise the critical path project schedule.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Manage project documentation and expedite approvals from owners, architects, and engineers.
- Review and understand contract documents, including plans, specifications, and purchase orders.
- Assist with the procurement of equipment and materials, including tracking deliveries.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor performance.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors regarding technical and contractual matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to travel extensively and temporarily reside at the project site for the summer.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
- Professional communication skills for interacting with managers, coworkers, and construction craft employees.
- Ambition to acquire new skills and grow professionally.
