About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will gain hands-on experience on a commercial construction project site. You will receive one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring while working alongside project managers and superintendents. This role focuses on your professional development through self-assessments and active participation in project management tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the control and management of project operations.
- Ensure safety and quality programs are executed on-site.
- Develop and maintain critical path and short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Manage project documentation and coordinate approvals with owners, architects, and engineers.
- Learn the requirements of contract documents, plans, specifications, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Assist in the procurement of equipment and materials.
- Track and expedite the delivery of materials and equipment.
- Evaluate the performance of subcontractors and vendors.
- Communicate with subcontractors and vendors regarding technical and contractual matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to travel extensively and temporarily reside at the project site.
- Ambition to grow professionally and acquire new skills.
- Motivation to succeed in the private commercial construction sector.
- Ability to handle competing priorities with a sense of urgency.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with managers, co-workers, and craft employees.
