About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will work on a commercial construction project site to gain hands-on experience. You will receive specialized coaching and mentoring while working alongside project managers and superintendents. This role focuses on your professional development through active self-assessment and training in core competencies.
What you'll do#
- Assist the project team with site control, management, and the execution of safety and quality programs.
- Develop and maintain critical path project schedules and assist with short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Apply Lean Construction techniques to project workflows.
- Manage project documentation and expedite approvals from owners, architects, and engineers.
- Review contract documents, including plans, specifications, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Support the procurement of materials and equipment, including tracking and expediting deliveries.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor performance.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors on technical and contractual matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to travel extensively and temporarily reside at the project site for the summer.
- Strong motivation to succeed and an interest in private commercial construction.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle multiple tasks with a sense of urgency.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with managers, co-workers, and construction craft employees.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
