About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will gain hands-on experience on a commercial construction site. You will receive specialized one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring throughout the summer. You will also track your own progress against core competencies to help guide your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with project control and management.
- Monitor the site to ensure safety and quality programs are followed.
- Create and update the critical path project schedule.
- Help prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Manage project documentation and coordinate approvals with owners, architects, and engineers.
- Learn the requirements of contract documents, plans, specifications, and purchase orders.
- Assist with equipment and material procurement, including tracking deliveries.
- Evaluate the performance of subcontractors and vendors.
- Communicate with subcontractors and vendors on technical and contractual issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to travel extensively and live at the project site for the duration of the internship.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to work with managers, co-workers, and construction craft employees.
- Motivation to grow professionally and succeed in the private commercial construction sector.
