About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will gain hands-on experience on a commercial construction site. You will receive specialized one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring throughout the program. This role is designed to help you build a career in construction while you actively track your own progress against core competencies.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in managing project operations.
- Verify that safety and quality programs are followed on-site.
- Create and update the critical path project schedule.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Handle project documentation and coordinate with Owners, Architects, and Engineers.
- Review contract documents, plans, specifications, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Help procure equipment and materials while tracking delivery timelines.
- Evaluate the performance of subcontractors and vendors.
- Communicate with subcontractors and vendors on technical and contractual tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Willingness to travel extensively and temporarily reside at the project site for the summer.
- Ambition to grow professionally and learn new skills.
- Motivation to succeed and a genuine interest in the private commercial construction sector.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with managers, coworkers, subcontractors, and craft employees.
