About the role#
The Custom Ingredients Group is looking for a Research & Development Intern for Summer 2027. You will support product development, testing, and innovation for whey-based ingredients. You will work alongside scientists and technical professionals to gain hands-on experience in laboratory research, experimental design, and data analysis. You will also take ownership of specific R&D projects while receiving mentorship from the team.
What you'll do#
- Develop and improve whey products by supporting research, testing, and process development.
- Design and conduct experiments at the laboratory, pilot plant, and production scale.
- Collect and document accurate data, then analyze results using basic statistical methods.
- Organize findings into clear tables, charts, and reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to execute project plans.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces while following safety standards and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current student with Sophomore or greater status pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including graphing, table creation, and data analysis.
- Strong math skills with exposure to basic statistics.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
