About the role#
This internship provides students with the chance to apply academic knowledge to a professional agribusiness environment. You will work within the Meat business unit, gaining hands-on experience by collaborating with food scientists on real-world product development projects. This is a paid, full-time, 12-week summer position designed to build your professional skills through substantive project work.
What you'll do#
- Support product development processes including formulations setup and shelf-life evaluation.
- Assist with experimental design and sensory evaluation tasks.
- Apply analytical chemistry and food material science to characterize ingredient functionality.
- Complete substantive projects that provide exposure to various agribusiness activities.
- Participate in orientation, mentoring, and networking opportunities to support your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2029.
- Ability to complete a 12-week internship during the summer of 2027.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without relying solely on a student visa.
- Initiative and resourcefulness to complete work with limited guidance.
- Ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

- Location: Wichita, Kansas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Duration: 12 weeks (May/June to August 2027).
- Requirements: Must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate to Wichita.
