About the role#
The Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) internship provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to a manufacturing environment. Interns work with business units to solve customer problems and contribute to food safety, quality, and efficiency initiatives. You will gain exposure to programs including HACCP, auditing, laboratory instrumentation, and product inspection.
What you'll do#
- Complete a primary project during the summer to support your professional development and the broader organization.
- Perform final product approval and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Assess process quality parameters and quality assurance systems daily, including calibration, raw materials, and maintenance.
- Analyze data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Operate and maintain lab, control room, and in-process instrumentation.
- Dispose of hazardous biological and chemical wastes.
- Develop and modify food safety and quality procedures.
- Assist with process improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical science program.
- Ability to complete a 12-week internship during the summer of 2027.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without reliance on a student visa or third-party sponsorship.
- Willingness to be geographically flexible and relocate for the internship.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- High degree of initiative and resourcefulness.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Basic knowledge of food safety concepts.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
- Experience with statistical and quality management tools.
- Moderate computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Experience applying Continuous Improvement concepts.
- Strong leadership and technical skills.
