About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in the Guest Services Department at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. You will learn the fundamentals of hospitality by managing the guest welcome, handling luggage, and supporting daily resort operations. This role requires a flexible schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week and involves both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Greet guests upon arrival and assist with their departure.
- Transport, log, and store guest luggage.
- Deliver VIP and guest amenities to rooms.
- Secure and manage incoming shipping packages.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of resort vehicles, the front entrance, and the lobby.
- Operate and valet park guest vehicles.
- Coordinate guest laundry and dry-cleaning services.
- Stay informed about resort functions, local events, and area attractions to assist guests.
- Build working relationships across resort departments.
- Complete internship projects and attend bi-weekly intern and committee meetings.
- Communicate operational needs and guest feedback to supervisors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a college or university with the requirement to receive academic credit for the internship.
- Minimum age of 21.
- A valid Chauffer or CDL license with a Passenger Endorsement.
- A clean driving record: no alcohol or drug-related convictions in the last 3 years, no more than 6 points in moving violations, and no license revocations in the last 36 months.
- Basic computer skills and previous customer service experience.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
