About the role#
As a Purchasing & Receiving Intern, you will manage the flow of goods for Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. You will stock storerooms and fulfill department requisitions to ensure our restaurants and lounges have the supplies they need. This role offers an opportunity to learn hospitality supply chain and inventory control while supporting our daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize and fulfill product requests from lounges and restaurants to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming materials against purchase orders and documentation.
- Manage communication with external vendors regarding order status and delivery timelines.
- Price and fill requisitions three times daily and deliver specific orders by 10:00 a.m.
- Handle and put away incoming produce, meat, seafood, and dry goods.
- Assist the beverage clerk with liquor requisitions.
- Work closely with the Purchasing Manager on projects and daily tasks.
- Act as a gatekeeper for quality control by documenting damages or shortages.
- Rotate stock, sweep, mop, and clean coolers and shelving daily.
- Break down boxes and separate glass for recycling.
- Attend bi-weekly intern and committee meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a University, College, or Community College with the ability to receive college credit.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
- Previous accounting or purchasing experience is helpful.
- Strong secretarial skills, including telephone etiquette, appointment scheduling, and filing.
- Ability to perform numeric calculations and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to build rapport with staff.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screen.
