About the role#
This is a hands-on internship at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. You will spend your time in our Gallery of Shops, learning daily retail operations while interacting with guests. Beyond store management, you will gain exposure to the product buying process by sitting in on meetings with vendors. This position requires 30-40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist guests with needs and provide product suggestions to help close sales.
- Maintain knowledge of merchandise, including pricing, quality, and features.
- Receive incoming stock and organize the outlet according to set procedures.
- Work with the Retail Manager on buying and merchandising tasks.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the shop.
- Complete internship projects, attend bi-weekly meetings, and participate in customer service training.
- Maintain a clean work environment and follow resort grooming and dress standards.
- Communicate clearly with co-workers and complete all assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a university, college, or community college with eligibility for academic credit.
- Experience in customer service or a related field.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to multi-task and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug screen.
