Summary of Role: As a Systems Engineering Intern in robotics, you will help ensure that hardware, software, kinematics, and AI framework models operate together effectively and efficiently across the overall system. Essential Responsibilities include: Use industry-standard tools to perform integrated design and simulation, validating interactions between AI models and robotic systems before hardware deployment. Calibrate and integrate vision, touch sensors, and motor-control systems to improve system perception and environmental awareness. Define system requirements and architecture, including data flow between compute platforms, sensors, motors, and neural-network controllers. Prototype and conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate real-world system behavior and performance. Other Responsibilities: Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. Required Qualifications: Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship. Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal) Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship. Preferred Qualifications: Prior related internship or co-op experience Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc. Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making. Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity. Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong planning & organizational skills Robotics frameworks including ROS2 and tools such as MoveIt and Drake. Programming experience in Python and C/C++. Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, reinforcement learning, or computer vision. Experience with SysML, MATLAB/Simulink, or Docker.
