About the role#
We are looking for a Risk Modeling Intern to join our team in Raleigh for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside industry experts for 12 weeks starting May 17, 2027. This internship is part time and follows a hybrid work schedule. You will participate in professional development workshops, teambuilding events, and networking opportunities with company leadership.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement analytics and forecasting models to improve business processes.
- Use machine learning and traditional statistical methods to provide insights for decision making.
- Perform exploratory data analysis using large datasets.
- Build models with structured and unstructured data to guide business decisions.
- Explain complex models and methods to non-analytical business users and model governance teams.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate junior or first-year graduate student in a quantitative field like Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance.
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Experience applying machine learning algorithms to data.
- Coding experience in Python, R, SAS, or a related language.
- Experience with Structured Query Language.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Interest in analyzing data within the insurance, banking, or financial services industries.
- Knowledge of cloud data services such as Snowflake or AWS is preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to various audiences.
