    About the role#

    As an intern in the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain program, you will work within the heart of our operations. You will learn how we source and manage components that keep our vehicles and business running. This role is designed for students eager to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry.

    What you'll do#

    Interns are assigned to specific pillars based on business needs. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Sourcing key parts, systems, and technologies for current vehicles and future EV products.
    • Partnering with cross-functional teams to balance cost, quality, timing, and innovation with suppliers.
    • Planning and supporting vehicle and propulsion production to ensure plants have the right parts at the right time.
    • Managing demand, material changes, and daily supply chain operations using data.
    • Supporting inbound and outbound logistics, from parts arriving at plants to vehicles reaching customers.
    • Designing packaging, routes, and logistics solutions to reduce cost and improve delivery performance.
    • Contributing to value chain, sustainability, accessories, aftermarket, and supplier resiliency projects.
    • Gaining exposure to strategy, planning, GM Energy, and new business models.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Packaging, Purchasing, Procurement, Business, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, Business Analytics, or Management Information Systems.
    • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2029.
    • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer months.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Workspace.
    • Previous internship experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain is preferred.
    • Demonstrated curiosity for AI-enabled tools and participation in school-related supply chain associations or case competitions.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, initiative, and the ability to work in ambiguous environments.

    Location & details#

    • This is a hybrid position based in Warren, Michigan. You will be expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center at least three times per week.
    • Start dates occur in May and June of 2027.
    • This position is paid and does not offer immigration sponsorship.
