About the role#
This internship introduces you to creative careers at General Motors and helps identify talent for future roles in digital sculpting. You will gain insight into aesthetic judgments, production methods, program timelines, and the materials used in automotive digital sculpting. The program includes opportunities to collaborate on innovation challenges, interact with industry leaders, attend networking events, and participate in community service.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Design, Sculpting, and Engineering teams to interpret sketches and develop digital models for future automotive themes.
- Apply established and emerging digital-sculpting techniques.
- Present finished models to Design and Sculpting leadership at midterm and final show events.
- Support general sculpting assignments within the studio.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Animation, Game Design, Transportation Design, Fine Arts, Sculpture, or Ceramics.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer.
- A 3D portfolio demonstrating creative ability is required.
- Basic understanding of design and sculpting principles, such as proportion, line, and surface.
- Skills in 3D computer modeling or animation.
- Experience with software such as Alias, Maya, Rhino/Grasshopper, or Unigraphics/NX.
- Note: This role does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Start dates: May and June 2027.
- Modality: On-site in Warren, Michigan, or Pasadena, California.
- Compensation: $6,100 monthly.
