About the role#
Generac is looking for a student to join our team as a GPS Student Apprentice. This role is open to current high school students enrolled in a qualified GPS Apprenticeship program. You will work on-site in a manufacturing environment, gaining hands-on experience with assembly processes and equipment.
What you'll do#
- Assemble products using work instructions, drawings, schematics, and electronic equipment.
- Follow safety standards for all tools and machinery.
- Cross-train across multiple assembly areas to support business needs.
- Participate in team meetings to share job-related information.
- Learn the principles and practices of your role as processes change.
- Resolve assembly problems with help from peers or supervisors.
- Provide basic training to other employees on standard work instructions.
- Develop an understanding of how the products you build impact the business.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a high school student in a qualified GPS Apprenticeship program.
- Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Capability to interpret visual diagrams and use basic hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and taking responsibility for your actions.
- Manufacturing or mechanical experience, or equivalent school coursework, is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Berlin, Wisconsin.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- This is a paid position.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted or 100 pounds with assistance. You will work in a manufacturing environment and must follow all facility safety and PPE policies.
