About the role#
GE Vernova is looking for a student to join the team at the intersection of cyber security, software engineering, and critical energy infrastructure. You will support the deployment and security of platforms that manage the modern digital electricity grid. This role focuses on the technology driving the transition to sustainable energy, including Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
What you'll do#
- Integrate cyber security into CI/CD pipelines and software lifecycles.
- Support the configuration and implementation of utility-grade software.
- Work alongside expert engineers to identify risks and automate operational efficiency.
- Gain hands-on exposure to how software platforms interact with Operational Technology (OT) and IT environments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or IT with a minimum 75% WAM.
- Previous cyber security vacation work or internship experience within a utility, electricity, energy, or critical-infrastructure organization.
- Strong interest in DevSecOps, DERMS, and grid-management technology.
- Familiarity with tools such as Git, CI/CD, Python, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, or Cloud platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of OT/ICS security or SCADA systems is also beneficial.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time remote position.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
- You must be able to commit for a minimum of 6 months, working either 3 days per week during the semester or 5 days per week during semester breaks.
- This position is paid.
