About the role#
As an Environmental Health and Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will support our mission of achieving a Zero Harm workplace by contributing to projects focused on environmental, health, and safety initiatives. You will work with site leadership and the EHS team to improve workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
What you'll do#
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state or local regulations.
- Conduct facility inspections, safety walks, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
- Track safety metrics, training records, and incident investigations.
- Develop and roll out safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and emergency response drills.
- Implement corrective actions following audits and investigations.
- Create safety communications and awareness materials for employees.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards regarding safety performance.
- Coordinate EHS training programs.
- Support waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment safety and environmental stewardship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- A problem-solving mindset and a willingness to learn new tools.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
- This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
- The work environment is office-based with occasional exposure to plant and manufacturing areas.
- Travel to plant sites may be required up to 25% of the time.
