About the role#
GE Vernova is looking for a graduate student to join the GridOS team as a Project Engineer intern. This role focuses on using Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models to improve how electric utilities validate and manage network models. You will help build tools that detect modeling issues, determine root causes, and suggest automated fixes. This work contributes to the next generation of intelligent systems used by utilities to maintain grid reliability.
What you'll do#
- Analyze large-scale power system model validation and diagnostic logs.
- Develop AI and LLM-based approaches to detect, classify, and prioritize modeling issues.
- Investigate network model inconsistencies and identify root causes.
- Build intelligent workflows that suggest or perform model remediation.
- Design prompt engineering, retrieval, or agentic solutions using modern LLM technologies.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and power system experts to prototype and validate solutions.
- Document research findings and present results to engineering leadership.
What you'll need#
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems specialization) or Computer Science.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Programming experience in Python and data analytics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to June 2027).
- Locations: Bellevue, Washington or Atlanta, Georgia.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote).
- Employment: This is a paid, non-full-time position.
