About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Salt Lake City. You will work on-site to gain hands-on experience with Lean principles and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
What you'll do#
- Observe and record cycle times for various operations through time studies to build baseline data.
- Create and maintain Standard Work Charts and Standard Work Combination Tables for production lines.
- Participate in at least one kaizen team to help solve problems and improve processes.
- Analyze assigned areas to find waste, propose solutions, and help put those changes into action.
- Facilitate structured problem-solving using A3 methodologies and the Problem Solving Process to find root causes.
- Build and update visual controls and performance boards for daily management.
- Work directly with frontline team members to validate standard work and keep improvements in place.
- Help organize workspaces through 5S audits and improvement tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- At least sophomore standing at the time of application.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Plans to return to school after the internship ends.
- Familiarity with Lean tools like 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, and PDCA.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
- Strong communication skills and an analytical approach to problem-solving.
